Brad Pitt is joining the cast of Quentin Tarantino’s next movie, now entitled Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. Well, it looks as if there’s been a knock-on effect from that.

World War Z 2, the movie sequel to the 2013 original hit movie, has endured more than its fair share of delays to get it this far. It looks like now there’s going to be another, as Pitt now has to shoot Tarantino’s movie first. That means World War Z 2 now can’t get going until at least the autumn, which in turn looks like the movie will now not arrive until 2020.

After numerous setbacks in the immediate years following World War Z’s release, World War Z 2 was supposed to come out on June 9, 2017. However, following the departure of director J.A. Bayona in early 2016 and other behind-the-scenes troubles, it was taken off the schedule mere months before that date hit. But it hasn’t been all bad news, as last summer, it was finally confirmed not that only David Fincher is returning to direct World War Z 2, but that Brad Pitt will reprise Gerry Lane. While a script for the sequel has been written, back in November, Fincher said that they were still workshopping the story so that it fits into the zombie-filled mythology established by the first movie.

It’s been a long, winding road for World War Z 2, and while Brad Pitt joining Once Upon a Time in Hollywood stretches out that road again, hopefully this delay will ultimately be a good thing for the sequel. This will not only extra time to improve the story, but also ensure that the production is on more solid footing compared to what its predecessor went through. After all, rushing a movie rarely works out for all parties involved.

World War Z 2 doesn’t have an assigned release date yet, but with the production delay, I imagine that it will hit theaters in late 2019 at the earliest or sometime in 2020.

World War Z is a 2013 American action horror drama film directed by Marc Forster. The screenplay by Matthew Michael Carnahan, Drew Goddard, and Damon Lindelof is from a screen story by Carnahan and J. Michael Straczynski, based on the title of the 2006 novel of the same name by Max Brooks. The film stars Brad Pitt as Gerry Lane, a former United Nations investigator who must travel the world to find a way to stop a zombie pandemic.

  1. Be sure to check out the NEW Marvel's Fantastic Four Teaser Trailer #1 here:

  2. Can't wait to watch it!! 😭💖

  3. World war Z was such a great movie

  4. can't fucking wait

  5. The clips are from the first movie so that means this is a fan version

  6. Brad Pitt and Zombies …Were entering a new era …This has epic written all over it !!!

  7. I CAN'T FUCKING WAIT (i'm 11 don't judge my spelling)

  8. I’m not actually excited about the new WWZ, I’m happy another big budget zombie movie is being made but I found the first one so meh it’s hard to be excited. I had accepted the fact it wasn’t going to resemble the book at all. (The only resemblance, that I can remember seeing was the wall in Israel and one line by the ex Mossad agent.) But what I had hoped for since they hadn’t been able to make a movie actually based on the book, was a awesome, big budget zombie movie that had a good storyline. I’m easy when it comes to zombies, I don’t need the wheel reinvented. If there’s an actual compelling and interesting more original take on the genre I’m down for it. Like Girl with all the gifts. But I’d rather tried and true tropes then trying to force it. I wish producers of zombie movies, shows, etc., would stop listening to movie critics bc the ppl who watch and love zombie flicks aren’t as worried about shit being new and shiny. I’ve looked into the psychology of why ppl enjoy zombie movies and it’s interesting. Like during times of economic strife, threats to a country’s safety bc of war, terrorism, etc., ppl are more interested in zombies. I’m into zombies bc they unlike just about any other horror movie strike a visceral fear in me. Not just the fear of dying but the fear of human extinction and becoming a monster that will hurt your loved ones. I don’t like slasher movies bc that’s to real life, as in we have sick psychotic serial killers and I have no desire to be reminded of that. But zombies and even pandemic movies/shows/books aren’t a current reality and in the case of zombies, not something that has more then a .000001% chance of actually occurring. This takes the stress of reality away and allows you to enjoy the fear. Disease is very visceral fear to humans and so is hurting those you love. Zombie movies tap into a powerful human fear without also tapping into real anxiety. So the movies don’t have to be that original bc it’s not the intellect that enjoys zombie movies. It’s the gut. So my hope for a new WWZ installment is that it hits my gut. I’m also hoping for a reboot that’s closer to the book. Like Max Brooks’ World War Z, kind of like Bram Stoker’s Dracula. A way of remaking the movie that differentiates it’s self from the first movie(s).
