Starr Carter is constantly switching between two worlds: the poor, mostly black, neighborhood where she lives and the rich, mostly white, prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Now, facing pressures from all sides of the community, Starr must find her voice and stand up for what’s right. THE HATE U GIVE is based on the critically acclaimed New York Times bestseller by Angie Thomas and stars Amandla Stenberg as Starr, with Regina Hall, Russell Hornsby, Issa Rae, KJ Apa, Algee Smith, Sabrina Carpenter, Common and Anthony Mackie.

  1. my boy algee

  2. This is the best book I have ever read in my life

  3. @ 1:15 to 1:20
I get the meaning of the entire movie/trailer i really do understand (me having lived in the hood/ghetto for a long time in the past) but come on this guy CANNOT be that dumb!

  4. wow, there's a movie??!!!! I'm so excited. I only read the book.

  5. @ 1:15 to 1:20
It doesn't matter what the color of your skin is or even your race, if you did what he did in real life I'm pretty sure you would have gotten the EXACT SAME thing he got.

  6. I wanna see that move so bad

  7. Guys YOU HAVE TO READ THE BOOK ITS AMAZING

  8. The book was wonderful. Please read the book before you watch the movie!!!

  9. They are obviously gonna take a closer look to crime statistics and how blacks are over represented right? Or how more white people get shot by the police with fewer confrontations right? They aren't just gonna put a light on one side and say "its racism" right?

  10. Jaden smiths character died because he was stupid, there was a cop who is trained to protect himself and the people with a firearm, and jaden he just screws around by grabbing a hairbrush the cop thought it was probably a gun and reacted, thats the only thing that really annoys me about this trailer

  11. I'm gonna make a prediction

This film will be called the next civil rights movement and social justice warriors/black lives matter supporters will call it the next racism test. Later sjws will blame white people if it doesn't do to well. The movie will probably be decent at best but people will still call people racist for disliking it.

  12. SOOOOOOO FRICKIN PROUND OF ANGIE THOMAS AND EVERYONE WHO HELPED AND INSPIRED HER. This might just change the world

  13. The book is amazing

  14. Can't even spell "you" right, and it says THUG at the beginning, yea be a thug…what a nice message for our kids and teenagers to follow.

  15. We know what you're trying to do. Most of us aren't going to fall for it, we aren't going to let ourselves be infected with these messages and be turned against each other. This movie is trying to depict a falsehood, it is perpetuating a stereotype that is first repeated over and over in the news till you believe it and then over and over in movies till it becomes "common sense". And then everyone who will be involved, will have their "excuse" to act in a violent way when the conflict gets sparked by an event.

  16. no offense to amandla but i was kind of hoping for a different actress :/ not for the skin color but i just see her everywhere now. it’s getting boring…

  17. I saw the book in the store, and after watching this I HAVE TO READ IT

  18. they cant take it there being spoon feed
